Christ's Episcopal Church, Castle Rock

The New Sanctuary (2005)

Historic 1906 Chapel

The historic chapel of Christ's Episcopal Church, built in 1906 of native rhyolite stone, served as the church's worship home for 100 years.  In 2005 a new sanctuary was added, and this beautiful building is the location for St. Martin's Chamber Choir's performance.  According to the church's website, "The architecture of The Sanctuary invites us to step into a soaring open space whose design springs from the very basis of Episcopal faith: the via media - the middle way. It is a study in reconciling opposites -- of dark and light, of curving lines with rectilinear, of masculine and feminine, of earth with heaven. Earth tones at floor level graduate to light and lighter as the eye is drawn up to the ceiling. Moving through the space presents continuously changing views, revealing wonderfully dynamic shifts of perspective."

Christ's Episcopal Church is located at 614 Fourth Street (Fourth and Lewis) in Castle Rock.  This map from MapQuest shows the location of Christ's Episcopal.  For more information for or directions to Christ's Episcopal Church please contact the St. Martin's Chamber Choir office.
