Craig Carnahan (b. 1951)

Craig Carnahan has received over 40 commissions for original compositions over the past 20 years. His music has been performed in Carnegie Hall and many other venues throughout the United States and Canada by groups such as the Dale Warland Singers, the Los Angeles Master Chorale, and the Minnesota Boychoir, to name a few. His opera, The Last Word, was commissioned by the Jerome Foundation. 

Carnahan studied composition with Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Dominick Argento, among others. In 1993 he received a McKnight Composition Fellowship. In 1998 he was Composer-in-Residence for the American Composers’ Forum’s Church/Synagogue Residency Project.

St. Martin’s Chamber Choir included Carnahan’s “A Cradle Song” on their CD "The Unknown Masterpiece". St. Martin's also presented the world premieres of “Thou Shalt Know Him When He Comes” and “Regina Coeli Laetare” during its 2004-05 season.
