Tim Sarsany (b. 1966)

Tim Sarsany earned a bachelor of music degree in composition and a master of music degree in choral conducting, both from Ohio State University. He receives commissions from choral groups nationwide for both arrangements and original compositions.

Among his best-known works are his “Salve Mater Misericordiae,” for mixed voices, and “Once to Every Man and Nation,” “God Is Our Strength,” and “Listen to a Jubilant Song,” all for men’s chorus. Sarsany recently won a statewide competition in Ohio in which the first prize was a commission to write a work for the Lancaster [Ohio] Chorale. The group premiered his resulting composition, “There Is Sweet Music.”

Currently, Sarsany is on the faculty at Ohio State University, Marion Campus, where he teaches chorus and voice. He is also an assistant conductor of the Columbus Gay Men’s Chorus.
