Yuriy Sokolovskiy (b. 1933) Yuriy Sokolovskiy, pianist, soloist and composer, received a master's degree in piano musical studies at the Kiev Conservatory. He later worked as a piano accompanist at the Kiev, Chernigov and Irkutsk Philharmonic Societies. He also performed as piano soloist at various concerts and was a choir master to an all-male vocal ensemble known as "Yavir". This ensemble was well known not only in Ukraine, but also in other foreign countries. Mr. Sokolovskiy was also the primary conductor of the light classical ensemble with the Kiev Philharmonic. Aside from being a performing musician, he was also a professor of music at the Russian and Ukrainian Colleges. Many of his students became professional musicians. Mr. Sokolovskiy is now a citizen of the United States of America. |
