St. Martin's Chamber Choir

Metropolitan State College Collaborations

Education Programs and Resources In recent years, St. Martin's Chamber Choir has been seeking ways to interact with college-age students, particularly those focusing on vocal/ choral music. Since director Tim Krueger is on the faculty at Metropolitan State College of Denver (MSCD), and St. Martin's singer MB Krueger is the chair of the choral music department there, MSCD was a natural choice for collaborations. Beginning in the 2010 - 2011 season, St. Martin's initiated several successful collaborations with MSCD's music department:
  • MSCD conducting competition: Students applied for and were invited to come to a St. Martin's rehearsal and conduct the choir. From the applicants, two conducting students were chosen and conducted the choir on a piece in a St. Martin's Christmas concert.

  • MSCD's Women's Chamber Choir joined the choir in two performances of a St. Martin's cameo concert. The MSCD choir performed pieces of their own as well as works where both choirs performed together.

  • St. Martin's Chamber Choir was invited to join the MSCD Chorale in a Spring concert. The response from both groups as well as their audience was positive and enthusiastic.

  • When St. Martin's Chamber Choir programmed Charles Ives' Psalm 90, in June, director Krueger hired two MSCD percussionists to perform with the choir.

Ongoing collaborations:

For the 2011 - 2012 season, we are pleased to announce that many of the same types of collaborations and several new ones are in the works. St. Martin's Chamber Choir continues to seek out ways to engage college and university students.
