First United Methodist Church traces its origins to 1859, barely a year after the Colorado gold rush began, and was only the fourth Methodist congregation organized in the region. The historic stone building shown here dates to 1892, and the present Sanctuary building, seen above the trees in this photograph, was dedicated in 1959. The new sanctuary provides a wonderful acoustic environment for a cappella choral music - a perfect complement to the St. Martin's sound. First United Methodist Church is located at 1421 Spruce Street in Boulder. (map) For more information or directions to the church please contact the St. Martin's Chamber Choir office.
