The Canonical Hours, an eight movement work by John White reflecting the eight daily monastic services (or hours) as the monks journey through the day, is the centerpiece of St. Martin’s CD Monastic Echoes. A Marian Christmas, the first full-length compact disc recording by the full St. Martin’s Chamber Choir, was released in December 1998. This highly acclaimed collection features Hugo Distler’s chorale variations on “Es ist ein Ros entsprungen” from his cantata Die Weihnachtsgeschichte, and also includes a selection of Marian antiphons, English carol settings, and three wonderful settings of the text Ave Maria. Symphonie des MysteresJoaquin Nin-Culmell: Symphonie des Mysteres

The men of St. Martin’s Chamber Choir joined organist Richard Robertson for this 1997 recording of Symphonie des Mysteres by French composer Joaquin Nin-Culmell. This large work for organ and Gregorian chant alternates chant with organ meditations on the 15 mysteries of the rosary. The first American performance of this work was given by Mr. Robertson and the St. Martin’s men, in the presence of the composer, on December 7, 1997 in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Denver, Colorado.
