James Rootring

James Rootring is a bass-baritone hailing from Cincinnati, Ohio. James started his singing career with the Cincinnati Opera chorus at just 16 years old, singing in the chorus of Turandot, La Bohéme, and the national debut of Pink Floyd’s Another Brick in the Wall. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in vocal performance at The Juilliard School under the instruction of the late Mr. Sanford Sylvan. During this time, he performed many roles including Herr Reich in Die Lustigen Weiber von Windsor, Azarias in The Burning Fiery Furnace, and Alcindoro in La Boheme. He also studied under Carol Vaness at the Aspen Music Festival and School in 2019. Graduating in 2020 presented James with a great deal of uncertainty and concern. He was offered a job in compliance at a financial firm and moved to Denver in 2021. James has been yearning for music in his life again and is thrilled to be singing with St. Martin’s Chamber Choir. He would like to thank his family and friends for their love and support.
