Board Member Expectations

In accordance with organization bylaws

Attendance / Participation

Serve a 3-year term (maximum of two consecutive terms)

Attend at least nine Board meetings per year (of the 11 scheduled on the third Tuesday of each month)

Participate fully and make informed decisions by reviewing meeting materials in advance of Board meetings; be informed about all policies, programs, and events

Attend scheduled Board retreats

Frequently attend concerts

Contribution of Skills and Expertise

Actively participate on at least one Board Committee (Development, Executive, Finance, and Governance)

Engage and invest in at least one SMCC fundraising activity

Assist in identification of potential board candidates

Financial Contribution

Make a personal donation that is, for you, a significant amount by the end of the first quarter

Purchase season tickets to SMCC concerts before the end of the first quarter

Attend and support fundraising events

Help to identify potential donors

Encourage others to buy tickets, attend concerts, and donate
