St. Martin’s is currently looking to fill four open board positions. Board members have authority and responsibility to exercise the power to control the work and policy of the Corporation, a 501(c) 3 organization. Board members are expected to attend and participate in regular meetings, contribute skills and expertise, and make financial contributions. They are responsible to see that the mission is carried out: The performance of classical choral music to the highest professional standards and to inspire appreciation of the choral art by educating audiences and the wider community.
Board member terms are 3 years with a maximum of 2 consecutive terms. Board meetings are held once a month. Members are expected to participate fully by reading and reviewing materials in advance of the meeting, and make informed decisions about all policies, programs and events. Members are expected to attend Board retreats.
Active participation on at least one committee is required (Development and Marketing, Education and Outreach, and Governance). Board members should engage in and participate in at least one fundraising activity. They should assist with recruitment of board candidates.
Board members are expected to 1) make a personal donation annually that is, for them, a significant amount, 2) purchase season tickets, 3) help identify potential donors, and 4) encourage others to buy tickets, attend fundraising events and make donations.
