St. Martin’s Chamber Choir has excelled in unearthing and performing long-forgotten historical gems from choral music’s thousand-year history. This concert features the likely North American premieres of two beautiful but neglected a cappella works from 19th century Germany, including the Mass in A minor by Friedrich Schneider (1786-1853), a successor of Bach at St. Thomas Church in Leipzig and a colleague of Beethoven, and the Six Motets of Friedrich Kiel (1821-1885), a noted composer of chamber music.
