A one-night-only, magical prelude to the holiday season, this concert juxtaposes nine different settings of the Magnificat – the Virgin Mary’s song of praise that heralds a divine birth – with other well-known Advent melodies such as O Come, O Come Emmanuel, Ave Maria, Es ist ein Ros entsprungen, and Conditor alme siderum. Settings span medieval times to the 21st century, including Bach, Biebl, Schlenker, Praetorius, Ešenvalds, and many others.
