There are so many legends surrounding Mozart’s final work that it is difficult to separate fact from fiction. What is certain is that it is an unsurpassed masterpiece, and Mozart knew it as he raced against time to finish, realizing it was his swan-song, and the summation of his musical genius. Some fifty years later, the great Czech-German pianist Carl Czerny arranged the Requiem accompaniment for 4-hand piano. St. Martin’s is joined by Jooeun Pak and Nan Shannon, both on the piano faculty of MSU-Denver.
